Join hands to build the movement
After days of hard work with volunteer movements, the face of Mr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Secretary of the Youth Union of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, was brighter when reviewing the activities organized in July. Immediately after the merger, despite being busy with work, the Youth Union of the People's Committee of the province still launched the "Green Summer" and "Pink Vacation" campaigns, creating an exciting competitive atmosphere for union members and youth.
Many gratitude activities were organized, such as: Replacing thousands of lotus flowers and hundreds of flower vases at the martyrs' cemetery; organizing the program "Forever the heroic song", offering songs and presenting 100 gifts to policy beneficiaries; mobilizing more than 500 union members to light candles in gratitude...
At the affiliated youth union bases, the spirit of “not letting the movement rest” is materialized through many projects and tasks. Mr. Hung said: “After the merger, the Provincial Youth Union has 46 youth union bases with nearly 4,700 members. Overcoming initial difficulties, the young people quickly got into the rhythm, promoted the spirit of solidarity, and joined hands to build the movement.”
In Nam Dong Ha ward, Deputy Secretary of the ward Youth Union Le Chi Nhuan also said that one of the first activities of the ward union after the merger was to establish a youth volunteer team to support the operation of the two-level government and help people with administrative procedures.
Gratitude activities were organized with great attention, creating a large-scale political movement. "The determination of the Party and Youth Union to contribute to building the homeland has increased greatly and has been materialized by positive actions," affirmed Mr. Nhuan.
Not only the Provincial Youth Union and the Nam Dong Ha Ward Youth Union, after the merger of the two provinces, in the exciting and competitive atmosphere, the youth movement in units and localities in the area continued to develop vigorously. Closely following the reality, the union cadres organized many activities to help solve difficulties and problems in the locality.
Under the direction of the Provincial Youth Union, 79 youth volunteer teams with the participation of more than 1,500 members were established to support the operation of the two-level government and help people with administrative procedures. Annual activities such as "Green Summer", "Pink Holiday", helping people eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses, etc. continue to be maintained, organized and implemented effectively. Many new projects and tasks have been launched, receiving high consensus and response.
Start with gratitude
According to Mr. Dinh Trung Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union, after the merger, the whole province now has 4,895 youth union branches, 296 grassroots youth union branches with 75,246 members. If fully promoted, this large, young and dynamic force will create many positive changes. “Realizing that, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has promptly consolidated the organization, built key programs and work plans.

Initially, we were very happy to receive consensus and high response from union officials, members, and youth. A clear manifestation is that over the past time, the activities and movements of Quang Tri youth have been maintained and developed well," Mr. Hieu informed.
Mr. Dinh Trung Hieu added that the time of the province's unification was also the beginning of the Month of Gratitude, so the activities of "Drinking water, remembering its source" received special attention from all levels of the Youth Union. The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee chaired and advised on organizing a series of activities to "repay gratitude" in the area.
With the joint efforts of union cadres, members and youth, the series of activities were successful and highly appreciated. In particular, the national program - the candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs at Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery left a deep impression.
According to statistics from the Provincial Youth Union, in July, all levels of the Youth Union mobilized nearly 19,000 working days to clean, repair, and embellish memorial works and historical relics. 20 free medical examination and treatment and medicine distribution points were organized, practically supporting about 2,500 policy beneficiaries and people in difficult circumstances.
The union officials visited, encouraged, and presented more than 1,900 gifts, worth more than 950 million VND, to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and policy beneficiaries. The programs "Family meals, warm mother's heart", "Reunion meals, warm love" were expanded to many rural areas.
Heroic Vietnamese mother Dao Thi Vui, residing in Hai Lang commune, Quang Tri province, shared: “My husband and son both died in the war. Having the young soldiers and youths come and help me is a comfort to me. In recent days, they have cooked rice, given gifts, sung songs... which has moved me a lot.”
Standing Deputy Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union Dinh Trung Hieu said that the encouraging results of the union work and youth movement after the province's unification have created more motivation and confidence for union cadres, party members and young people on the new journey.
"We will continue to make efforts to promote the spirit of volunteerism of Quang Tri youth to the fullest, keeping the flame of gratitude always burning in the hearts of every union member and youth," Mr. Hieu affirmed.
