This was a predictable result. Vietnam played only one match in June, and suffered a 4-0 defeat against Malaysia in the Asian Cup qualifiers. This defeat cost Vietnam in the FIFA rankings.

At that time, Vietnam was ranked 109th on the FIFA rankings, while Malaysia was ranked 131st. According to FIFA's formula, losing to a lower ranked opponent would result in losing more points, and conversely, Malaysia would gain a lot of points by winning against an opponent ranked 12 places higher.

As a result, Vietnam lost a total of 13.91 points, leaving it with only 1169.92 points, dropping from 109th to 113th place.

On the other hand, Malaysia got 14.91 points, jumping 6 places to 125th place.

This defeat also put Vietnam under pressure from Indonesia. The archipelago nation played two matches in June, including a 1-0 win over China and a heavy 0-6 loss to Japan.

However, Japan is the strongest team in Asia, ranked in the top 20 in the world , so this defeat only cost Indonesia very few points. On the contrary, they gained many points because China is still ranked quite high, in the top 100 in the world .

As a result, Indonesia was awarded 11.63 points, jumping 5 places to 118th place. Thus, Indonesia is currently the Asian team ranked right after Vietnam on the FIFA rankings.

Another Southeast Asian representative that also dropped in the rankings is Thailand, which fell 3 places from 99th to 102nd due to the defeat against Turkmenistan in the Asian Cup qualifiers.

In the world's top group, the top 5 remained completely unchanged, with Argentina firmly holding the number one position, followed by Spain, France, England and Brazil.

The UEFA Nations League title only helped Portugal jump 1 place to 6th place, replacing the Netherlands who dropped to 7th place.

Despite falling two places, Japan still leads Asia in 17th place, three places higher than Iran. Next are South Korea (23rd) and Australia (24th).

Other Southeast Asian football nations such as the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar, and Cambodia all saw slight increases in the rankings this month.
