Russian team takes private plane to Hanoi on September 4

The Russian team will arrive in Hanoi by private jet on September 4, one day before the opening match against the Vietnamese team in the LPBank Cup 2024 International Friendly Tournament.

According to the plan, the plane carrying the Russian team will land at Noi Bai International Airport ( Hanoi ) at 1:00 p.m. on September 4. After landing, the Russian team will return to the hotel to settle down before attending the pre-tournament press conference at 6:00 p.m. After that, coach Valeri Karpin and his team will practice at 7:00 p.m. at My Dinh Stadium. The Russian team will meet the Vietnamese team in the opening match at 8:00 p.m. on September 5 at My Dinh Stadium, before playing against the Thai team at 8:00 p.m. on September 7. Compared to the preliminary list of 38 players, coach Valeri Karpin cannot bring to Vietnam a team with many stars in the official list of 27 players. The most notable is only Matvey Safonov, the goalkeeper who just joined PSG Club (France) last July for a fee of 20 million euros (about 500 billion VND).

However, with a world ranking of 33, the Russian team still promises to be a tough opponent for coach Kim Sang Sik and his team in the preparation for the 2024 ASEAN Cup (formerly the AFF Cup) at the end of the year. The friendly match with the Russian team also has special meaning for Dang Van Lam, a goalkeeper of Vietnamese and Russian descent. Speaking before the match, goalkeeper Van Lam shared: "If I have the opportunity to play in the upcoming match against the Russian team, it will be a great feeling for me personally. Currently, I am a professional player and am guarding the goal for the Vietnamese team, so my parents will definitely be very happy to see their son have the opportunity to participate in this special match."
