VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu affirmed that VFF always puts the development of youth football first, especially creating the best conditions for U22 Vietnam to have comprehensive preparation for the upcoming important tournament. Besides the goal of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, the team also aims for other tournaments such as the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.

VFF leaders also highly appreciated the team's thorough preparation process in the past time, from organizing training sessions in parallel with the national team from the end of 2024, to participating in quality friendly tournaments in China.

In particular, the team had two effective professional practice matches with U23 Taiwan (China) during the training period in Ba Ria - Vung Tau .

VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu praised the team's serious work ethic, efforts and determination. He emphasized that U23 Vietnam is the current champion of the tournament after two consecutive victories in 2022 and 2023. However, maintaining the position is a big challenge when regional rivals are investing heavily in youth football.

Therefore, the whole team continues to promote the spirit of fighting with all their might to defend the title and demonstrate the right development direction of Vietnamese youth football.

According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will continue to train in Ba Ria - Vung Tau until July 12, before leaving for Indonesia on July 14. Before leaving, coach Kim Sang Sik will finalize the official list of 23 players participating in the tournament.

At the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, U22 Vietnam will compete under the name of the U23 Vietnam team. In the group stage, the team will face U23 Laos on July 19 and U23 Cambodia on July 22.

Vice President Tran Anh Tu was also assigned to take on the role of Head of the Vietnam U23 Delegation in this tournament.
