On the morning of September 28, the National Assembly Standing Committee held its 37th session to consider and decide on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period of a number of provinces and cities.
Accordingly, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed a Resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Quang Ninh province, including merging Tan Viet commune into Viet Dan commune and Dong Trieu ward into Duc Chinh ward of Dong Trieu town . Establishing wards ( Binh Duong , Thuy An, Binh Khe, Yen Duc) and establishing Dong Trieu city under Quang Ninh province on the basis of the current natural area of 395.95 km2 and population of 248,896 people of Dong Trieu town.
Dong Trieu City was established with 19 commune-level administrative units, including 13 wards : Duc Chinh, Hung Dao, Xuan Son, Kim Son, Mao Khe, Hong Phong, Trang An, Yen Tho, Hoang Que, Binh Duong, Thuy An, Binh Khe, Yen Duc and 6 communes: Nguyen Hue, Viet Dan, An Sinh, Trang Luong, Hong Thai Dong, Hong Thai Tay. Regarding administrative boundaries, the East of Dong Trieu city borders Uong Bi city; the West borders Chi Linh city of Hai Duong province; the South borders Kinh Mon town of Hai Duong province and Thuy Nguyen district of Hai Phong city; the North borders Son Dong and Luc Nam districts of Bac Giang province.
The establishment of the above 4 wards and the establishment of Dong Trieu city has a positive impact on the economic restructuring towards increasing the proportion of industry , trade and services and gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture , promoting investment in construction on available potentials and advantages to develop the city. Dong Trieu children increasingly rich, civilized and affectionate .
