Ukraine fires more Western long-range missiles into Russian territory

(CLO) The Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday that Ukraine launched six US-made long-range ATACMS missiles and four UK-made Storm Shadow missiles into the Rostov region, southern Russia.

The ministry said Russian forces shot down all ATACMS missiles and three of the four Storm Shadow missiles, adding that Moscow would respond to the attacks.

Ukraine began firing Western missiles at Russia last month after receiving permission from the US and UK – which Moscow said made those countries direct participants in the conflict.

In response, Russia launched a new hypersonic missile called Oreshnik at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on November 21.

President Vladimir Putin said Russia was ready to strike Oreshnik missiles, including at "decision-making centers" in Kiev, if Ukraine continued to use Western weapons to attack Russian territory.
