A VFF leader said that the unit currently has a list of more than 10 quality candidates. The special feature of this list is the diversity of nationalities of the coaches.
After the success of Coach Park Hang Seo with the Vietnam national team, the wave of Korean-origin coaches is gradually appearing in Southeast Asia. Many Korean coaches have expressed interest in leading the Vietnam national team. Mr. Kim Sang-sik and Mr. Kim Do-hoon have both applied to replace Coach Troussier. In fact, these are the earliest profiles to appear at the VFF after Coach Troussier terminated his contract.

The VFF list also includes at least 4 coaches of European nationality, some of whom have been successful in Southeast Asia. In early April, coach Roberto Donadoni submitted his application to the VFF. He is the former captain of the Italian national team and many famous teams such as Parma and Napoli.
Meanwhile, Mr. Marco Pezzaiuoli - assistant to coach Ralf Rangnick at Hoffenheim Club (Bundesliga) also wants to cooperate with VFF. This is a candidate with a very good resume, having led German youth teams for many years. This coach is about to end his contract with Galatasaray - a giant of Turkish football. He plays the role of technical director of this team.
Among the remaining candidates, it is impossible not to mention the coaches from Japan. There are 2 coaches ready to sit in the hot seat of the Vietnam team. It is known that they both have qualifications and reputations far surpassing coach Toshiya Miura - who was introduced to VFF by the Japan Football Federation 9 years ago.
Overall, the VFF is still cautious before making the final choice of the head coach for the Vietnam national team. The VFF leadership revealed that they have considered the option of inviting coaches from the V.League to temporarily lead the Vietnam national team in the two matches in June against Iraq and the Philippines.
VFF hopes to have enough time to work with most of the candidates to ensure that the replacement for coach Troussier will bring success, or at least help the Vietnamese team escape the quagmire.
