As it turns out, iPhone users in China and Japan have been given a little more information in the iOS 17.2.1 release notes that Apple has been rolling out in those countries. The translation app shows that iPhone users in those countries are being told that the update “addresses an issue that may cause the battery to drain more quickly under certain conditions.”
This aligns with a number of Reddit posts from iPhone users who are happy with the increased battery life on their devices after installing iOS 17.2.1. For example, redditor Delay_Similar wrote: "Since updating to iOS 17.2.1, battery life seems to be much better."
Meanwhile, some iOS 17.2 users have reported no battery drain. Speaking about this, Redditor Salloumk, who owns an iPhone 15 Pro Max, said: "My device has significantly improved battery life after the iOS 17.2 update and is still performing just as well in the incremental iOS 17.2.1 update. This seems to be the best version since iOS 15 so far."
