Domestic authorities coordinated with partner countries to bring 338 Vietnamese people stranded in the conflict zone in northern Myanmar back home safely on December 4.
In the context of the conflict and complicated developments in Myanmar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Vietnam continues to coordinate with local authorities and partner countries to bring its citizens home. All repatriation costs will be covered by the Vietnamese government.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar has counted more than 800 Vietnamese citizens who have been granted travel documents and are eligible to return home this time. Most of them are young people, including teenagers, infants and pregnant women, who went abroad to work in online gambling establishments in northern Myanmar states, abandoned by their employers and trapped by fighting between the Myanmar military and ethnic minorities in the area.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens be vigilant against invitations to go abroad for "easy, high-paying jobs" that do not require qualifications or skills, do not require a signed contract, and do not go through businesses or labor sending organizations.
Citizens need to carefully research the job content, unit, expected work location, relatives of the referrer, insurance regime, and benefits before deciding to go abroad.
The Brotherhood Alliance, comprising the Arakan Army (AA), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) and Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) rebel groups, launched Operation 1027 on October 27, attacking a series of Myanmar army bases in Shan State, an area near the border with China.
This is considered the largest attack by rebel groups against the Myanmar military government since the 2021 coup.
Fighting between the Brotherhood and the Myanmar military has prompted other rebel groups to join the attack on the government. The conflict in Myanmar has lasted for weeks, spreading to both the east and west of the country.
