Princess Kate apologizes for posting edited photos

Princess Kate admits and apologizes for editing a photo of her and her children released by the royal family.

Princess Kate, 42, has not been seen in public since her last church service at Christmas and she also underwent abdominal surgery in January. This has sparked speculation about her health, especially on social media.

However, the photo caused controversy because of some unreasonable points such as Princess Charlotte's left arm is crooked compared to her sleeve and part of the sleeve is also missing. The little princess's hair is cut off at the shoulder, while Princess Kate's zipper is crooked.

AFP, Getty, AP and Reuters later removed the photo, citing violations of their photo policies. British news agency PA also announced on March 11 that it had removed the photo, due to Kensington Palace's failure to clarify the inappropriate points.

Minutes after PA's move, Kensington Palace's account posted a statement from Princess Kate.

"Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally edit my own photos. I would like to apologize if the family photo we shared yesterday caused any concerns," the statement said.

Peter Hunt, a former BBC royal correspondent, said the incident was damaging to the William and Kate family. "They know that any picture they release will be of particular interest. The challenge now is whether people will trust their next health update," Hunt said.

Kensington Palace said in January that Kate's surgery had gone well, she was recovering at Windsor Castle and was unlikely to return to royal duties before Easter on March 31.

The palace did not reveal the specific reason for Princess Kate's surgery, but confirmed that it was not related to cancer. The British royal family said on February 29 that they would only update her condition when important information was available.
