WhatsApp - the globally popular messaging app owned by Meta - is testing a groundbreaking feature: live voice chat with the Meta AI virtual assistant.

The feature, which has appeared in beta update 2.25.21.21 for the Android operating system, promises to revolutionize the way people interact with artificial intelligence (AI).

According to WABetaInfo - a site that specializes in tracking updates on the WhatsApp application, users can start voice chat sessions with Meta AI in the form of simulated calls, providing a natural and seamless exchange experience.

This is an ideal solution for people who prefer voice communication or want to use AI while they are busy with other tasks such as cooking, taking notes or surfing the web.

Users can start chatting by tapping the sound wave icon in the Meta AI interface under the "Chats" tab or directly from the "Calls" tab.

One notable “plus” is that WhatsApp allows users to exit the app to open other platforms (such as Google Chrome or the Notes app) without interrupting the conversation with the AI. This is a very practical improvement in the era of multitasking.

During a chat session, users can mute their microphone, end the chat, or switch back to text messaging at any time.

To ensure privacy, Android will display a green indicator light when the microphone is in use. Notably, Meta AI will never initiate a chat session itself; all communication is initiated by the user himself./.
