According to users' feedback, they cannot access X or cannot download new content. The problem occurred from 6am on March 10 (local time).
Alp Toker, director of Internet monitoring company Netxblols, commented: this is one of X's longest outages and is quite similar to a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack targeting the social network's infrastructure.
Shortly after, X also acknowledged that the platform had suffered a service disruption. Elon Musk said that X's widespread network outage was due to a "large-scale cyber attack" by a large organization behind it.
“We don’t know exactly what happened but there was a massive cyber attack trying to take down system X with IP addresses originating from the Ukraine region,” he said.
Previously, in 2024, Elon Musk also said that X suffered a DDos cyber attack that led to the postponement of the dialogue between him and then Republican candidate Donal Trump.
