On the afternoon of December 3, a representative of the Bac Ninh Traffic Police Department said that after receiving a report from the press, the unit had investigated the case of a blue-plate car deliberately driving in the wrong direction on the national highway from Thuan Thanh town to Tien Du district (Bac Ninh), endangering other vehicles.

"According to the initial investigation, the blue-plate car 99A - 003.23 belongs to the People's Committee of Thuan Thanh town, Bac Ninh. We will invite the driver to the scene and base the violation on the provided images and the driver's report to make a decision on the penalty," said a representative of the Bac Ninh Traffic Police Department.

This person said that all traffic participants have equal rights, the goal is to build a traffic culture so all violations will be strictly handled, there are no forbidden areas.

As reported by VTC News, at around 2:20 p.m. on December 2, the blue-plate car 99A - 003.23, while passing Ho Bridge on Highway 38, suddenly swerved into the opposite lane.

It is worth mentioning that this road has a hard median and the road is clear, but the driver still deliberately drove into the opposite lane where there were many vehicles moving.

The driver of the blue-plate car drove in the wrong direction, causing many vehicles to stop and avoid collisions.

Regulations on administrative penalties for driving in the opposite direction to a car are stipulated in Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (amended in Decree 123/2021/ND-CP):

- Fine from VND 4,000,000 to VND 6,000,000 for the act of going in the wrong direction on a one-way street, going in the wrong direction on a street with a "No entry" sign, except for violations specified in Point a, Clause 8, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP and cases of priority vehicles on urgent missions as prescribed.

At the same time, the driver's license will be revoked for 2 to 4 months.

- A fine of VND 10,000,000 to VND 12,000,000 shall be imposed for driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street or on a street with a "No entry" sign causing a traffic accident, except for violations specified in Point a, Clause 8, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP; (Point a, Clause 7, Article 5, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP amended by Point d, Clause 3, Article 2, Decree 123/2021/ND-CP).

At the same time, the driver's license was revoked from 22 months to 4 months.

- Fine from 16,000,000 VND to 18,000,000 VND for driving in the wrong direction on the highway, except for priority vehicles on urgent missions as prescribed.

At the same time, the driver's license will be revoked for 5 to 7 months.
