On August 26, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Thanh Hoa Province Police said that at the intersection of National Highway 45 - Nghi Son (section through Nghi Son town), a fire broke out from a truck carrying postal items.
Authorities extinguished the fire on the postal vehicle.
Initial information, at around 20:52 on August 25, the postal vehicle with license plate 89H-037.xx driven by Pham Van Ich (born in 1990, residing in district of Y Yen, Nam Dinh province) was traveling on the highway in the South - North direction when a fire was discovered in the trunk of the vehicle.
When approaching Nghi Son intersection, Highway 45 - Nghi Son (in Tan Truong commune, Nghi Son town), driver Ich drove the car off the highway, went down to the roundabout area, and asked people for help to put out the fire.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department dispatched 2 fire trucks and 13 officers and soldiers to the scene, coordinating with local forces to organize a fire fighting plan.
When discovering the fire, the driver quickly drove the car down to the intersection to ask people and authorities to help put out the fire.
After nearly 30 minutes, the fire was basically under control, preventing it from spreading to the front of the vehicle and surrounding areas. The fire burned many goods and parcels on the vehicle, but there were no human casualties.
According to information from Nghi Son Town Police, initially, driver Ich said that when he discovered the fire behind him, he drove quickly to Nghi Son intersection. At the same time, he called the fire hotline for assistance.
"The driver said there was no one to help on the highway, and he was close to the intersection so he quickly drove off the highway. Luckily, when he got to the roundabout, local residents and firefighters were able to help put out the fire. The fire only burned the goods at the back, the front of the vehicle was not affected," said an officer from Nghi Son Town Police .
The cause of the fire is being investigated by authorities.
