Yen Bai has over 620 establishments purchasing and processing agricultural and forestry products.

With the orientation of developing concentrated agricultural production areas associated with processing and consumption according to the agricultural value chain, in recent years, Yen Bai province has issued and focused on implementing many mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of agricultural production.

The province also attracted and invested in building a silk processing factory in Tran Yen district to improve the efficiency of the mulberry value chain, promote the chain of links in processing and consuming silk in the province. The Japanese EREX Group built a Biomass Power Plant Project in Dong Cuong commune, Van Yen district, utilizing biomass energy from waste products of the agricultural and forestry production and processing industry (wood scraps, wood chips, etc.) to use as fuel for power generation purposes.

In particular, to promote the development of the processing industry, the province has focused on planning, clearly identifying the strengths of each region associated with the development of key products to call for investment; issuing many preferential policies and mechanisms, supporting investors, and strongly reforming administrative procedures to serve businesses. Thanks to that, Yen Bai has attracted many businesses to invest in the agricultural sector, especially agricultural and forestry processing enterprises.
