1,000 Vietnamese businesses will compete fairly on international e-commerce platforms

Vietnamese businesses have had impressive growth, with the number of goods sold on the Amazon e-commerce platform increasing by 300% within 5 years.

With the cooperation between the Trade Promotion Agency and Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, an activity to support 1,000 Vietnamese enterprises to increase their presence on international e-commerce platforms will be implemented for three years, from 2025 to 2027.

That is the content of the support program "Vietnamese brands grow globally", by the Department of Trade Promotion - Ministry of Industry and Trade (Vietrade) in cooperation with Amazon Global Selling Vietnam.

The program was officially announced in Hanoi on the morning of July 23.

This initiative will promote product innovation, digital transformation, and create a launch pad for success for Vietnamese businesses in the global e-commerce market.

The program, which runs from 2025 to 2027, has two goals: to provide comprehensive training and online export certification for 1,000 Vietnamese businesses, and to support 30 national brands to increase their international presence through e-commerce with Amazon.

Mr. Larry Hu, General Director of Amazon Global Selling Southeast Asia, said: "This is a transformational period for Vietnam's digital commerce. Amazon Global Selling recognizes that e-commerce exports are becoming an important driving force in Vietnam's international trade strategy and brand development."

Mr. Larry Hu also gave impressive figures about Vietnamese businesses on Amazon that are achieving strong growth. In just 5 years, Vietnamese businesses have had impressive growth, the number of goods sold on Amazon increased by 300%, the number of Brand Registry registrations (brand protection) increased 35 times.

To date, more than 60% of products sold on Amazon come from third-party sales partners, including thousands of Vietnamese businesses.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade - assessed that proactively diversifying trade promotion activities in the digital environment is no longer an option, but a prerequisite to improve the competitiveness, adaptability and sustainable development of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.

"Vietnamese Brands Growing Globally" will be a strategic and practical initiative, marking a new step in cooperation between the Department of Trade Promotion and Amazon Global Selling Vietnam in the period of 2025-2027.
