In the first 11 months of 2024, there were more than 21,690 traffic accidents nationwide, killing nearly 10,030 people.

The National Traffic Safety Committee said that in November (from October 15 to November 14), there were 1,980 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 965 people and injuring 1,418 people.

Compared to the same period in 2023, there were 171 fewer cases (7.95%), 15 fewer deaths (1.53%), and 231 fewer injuries (14.01%).

Of these, 1,968 road accidents occurred, killing 955 people and injuring 1,417 people, down 175 accidents (8.17%), down 19 deaths (1.95%), down 232 injuries (14.07%) compared to the same period last year.

There were 10 railway accidents, killing 8 people and injuring 1 person, an increase of 6 accidents (150%), 4 deaths (100%), and 1 injury compared to the same period last year.

There were 2 incidents on waterways, resulting in 2 deaths and no injuries, a decrease of 2 incidents (50%), the number of deaths and injuries remained unchanged compared to the same period in 2023. There were no maritime accidents.

Notably, there was a series of traffic accidents on the morning of October 28, between 3 cars and 3 motorbikes at Km 18+200 in Huu Bang village, Ngoc Xa commune, Que Vo town, Bac Ninh province, in which a dump truck and a tanker truck collided directly with each other, causing the drivers of the two vehicles to be trapped in the cabin and die.

Thus, in 11 months of 2024 (from December 15, 2023 to November 14, 2024), there were 21,691 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 10,026 people and injuring 16,103 people.

Compared to the first 11 months of 2023, traffic accidents increased by 1,163 cases (5.67%), decreased by 859 deaths (7.89%), and increased by 1,906 injuries (13.43%).

On the road alone, there were 21,512 traffic accidents, killing 9,905 people and injuring 16,070 people. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 1,148 cases (5.64%), a decrease of 860 deaths (7.99%), and an increase of 1,907 injuries (13.46%).

There were 123 railway accidents, killing 87 people and injuring 26. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 13 accidents (11.82%), a decrease of 1 death (1.14%), and the number of injuries remained unchanged.

There were 50 incidents on waterways, killing 31 people and injuring 6. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 1 incident (2.04%), an increase of 1 death (3.33%), and a decrease of 2 injuries (25%).

There were 6 maritime incidents, resulting in 3 deaths and missing people, 1 injury, an increase of 1 incident (20%), 1 death and missing person (50%), and 1 injury compared to the same period last year.
