2 shareholders hold nearly 96% of capital at BIDV

Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam ( BIDV - HoSE: BID) has just announced the list of shareholders owning 1% or more of charter capital.

Accordingly, the two shareholders, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and Keb Hana Bank, are holding a total of nearly 5.5 billion BID shares, equivalent to 95.99% of the bank's capital.

Specifically, the State Bank currently holds 4.62 billion BID shares, equivalent to 80.99% of the bank's charter capital.

Meanwhile, BIDV's strategic shareholder, Keb Hana Bank, currently owns 855.1 million shares, equivalent to 15% of the bank's capital. Keb Hana Bank's related parties own an insignificant amount of shares.

KEB Hana Bank is a member of Hana Financial Group (Hana Financial Group Korea), established in 2015, with the merger between KEB Bank and Hana Bank.

List of shareholders owning 1% of capital at BIDV.

KEB Hana Bank has a wide network of operations, including 752 branches across Korea and 176 branches in 24 countries around the world . In Vietnam, KEB Hana Bank has 2 branches located in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2019, BIDV issued more than 603.3 million shares to KEB Hana Bank, equivalent to 15% of the bank's capital with a holding period of at least 5 years. The total transaction value was nearly VND 20,300 billion. After issuing shares to KEB Hana Bank, BIDV's charter capital increased from VND 34,187 billion to VND 40,220 billion.

In addition to BIDV, the State Bank also holds 64.45% of capital at VietinBank and 74.8% of capital at Vietcombank. Up to now, 3 out of 4 state-owned banks have announced shareholders owning 1% or more of capital.

On the stock market, at the end of the session on August 16, BID shares increased by 1.82% compared to the previous session to VND47,500/share with a trading volume of more than 2.3 million units.

Before BIDV, VietinBank also announced 3 institutional shareholders owning 1% of charter capital at Vietinbank with a total of nearly 1.18 billion CTG shares, equivalent to nearly 22% of the bank's capital.

Specifically, as of August 6, 2024, MUFG Bank, Ltd. is the organization that owns the largest number of CTG shares, with nearly 1.06 billion shares, equivalent to 19.73% of the bank's charter capital.

Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company Limited also owns 57.6 million CTG shares, equivalent to 1.07% of the bank's capital.

Prudential Insurance's related parties also own more than 2.9 million CTG shares, equivalent to 0.05% of capital. The last organization is VietinBank Labor Union, which owns more than 61.6 million CTG shares, equivalent to 1.15% of capital.

In addition, Vietcombank also announced the list of shareholders owning more than 1% of charter capital with only one shareholder, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), owning more than 93.3 million shares, equivalent to 1.67% of the bank's capital.

In addition, according to the shareholder structure information announced by Vietcombank, the bank's strategic shareholder Mizuho Corporate Bank. Ltd is holding 15% of charter capital.
