Accordingly, at around 2:00 p.m. on June 8, 2023, 3 students, including: Tran Van Hoang (born 2006, class 11A4); Ha Xuan Truong (born 2004, class 12A9) and Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc (born 2005, class 12A9, all from Quang Trung High School, An Khe town) asked their families to go out. However, at 5:00 p.m. the same day, the family contacted them but did not receive any response, so they organized a search.

At 5:00 a.m. on June 9, 2023, when arriving at Hon Co Lake (Song An Commune), people discovered motorbikes and the children's belongings on the shore, so they reported it to the local authorities and the authorities and local people organized a search. After that, they discovered and pulled the bodies of the three students ashore.

Currently, the bodies of the three students have been handed over to their families for funeral arrangements according to local customs.
