
Unique traditional cultural identity
Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat has a population of 24.49% ethnic minorities, mainly K'Ho people (Cil, Lach branches), along with ethnic groups in the Central Highlands such as Chau Ma, Churu, M'nong... Living at the foot of the majestic Lang Biang mountain. The K'Ho people here have a rich, unique culture, rich in national identity, especially the Central Highlands gong cultural space recognized by UNESCO as an oral masterpiece, an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, preserved and promoted with good values to serve today's life.
The K'Ho gong culture is preserved, taught, and staged by the local people to serve tourism , with more than 200 sets of gongs, about 100 people who know how to use them, and 5 gong tuning artisans... Not only is it a unique cultural identity of the nation, the K'Ho community at the foot of Lang Biang mountain has brought their traditional culture into tourism exploitation, bringing in practical income. Currently, there are about 12 groups registered for gong cultural exchange activities in the area, of which 10 groups are maintaining the organization of daily tourist services well. Thereby, not only contributing to improving the lives of the people, but also contributing to preserving and spreading the traditional culture of the K'Ho people to domestic and foreign tourists. Along with that, residential groups with many ethnic minorities also maintain gong teams to serve festivals, New Year, weddings or important local events...
In addition to gong culture, the indigenous peoples in Lang Biang also have traditional occupations of making rice wine and weaving brocade. The villages producing rice wine or weaving brocade here have become attractive destinations for tourists to visit and learn about the culture. In particular, the locality has established a Cooperative Group to make and consume rice wine products with the brand name “Lang Biang Rice Wine” known to domestic and foreign tourists.
Tourism development associated with conservation
In recent years, the Party Committees and authorities from the province to the grassroots have promptly oriented and had the right policies to develop culture associated with tourism in Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat. Therefore, this place has attracted many investment projects, forming many areas, spots, and types of tourism with increasingly diverse scale and quality. The network of tourist facilities has been expanded, currently, in the ward there are 83 accommodation establishments with a capacity of 2,200 guests, along with 3 travel agencies, many large tourist areas such as: Lang Biang Mountain, Lang Biang Land, Golden Valley, Tay Nguyen Biology Institute, Cu Lan Village, Pini Da Lat, Puppy Farm, Dinosaur Tropical Garden, Mushroom Village... Tourism infrastructure is invested synchronously, tourism products are diverse such as cultural experiences, ecology, resorts, agricultural tourism...
In particular, the locality has restored the K'Ho - Cil wedding ceremony of the local ethnic minorities, as well as organized a bareback horse race and a performance of traditional ethnic costumes to preserve the unique cultural features. These activities are held during the Pink Grass Festival - a festival with its own characteristics of the Lang Biang land every year. Thereby, creating new tourism products, attracting tourists to the locality and promoting the tourism potential in the area.
Speaking at the Congress of Lang Biang Ward Party Committee - Da Lat for the 2025 - 2030 term, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province Pham Thi Phuc requested Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat to have solutions to maintain and improve the quality of trade, service and tourism activities, especially gong cultural tourism, agricultural tourism, develop traditional occupations and craft villages, restore indigenous culture and the brand "Da Lat - Miraculous crystallization from the good land", build Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat to become a bright spot for high-quality tourism, rich in cultural identity...
