Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley vowed to keep fighting on Thursday after a crushing defeat to Donald Trump in her home state, highlighting the uphill climb she faces to win the Republican nomination.
Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley shared: “I said earlier this week that no matter what happens in South Carolina, I will continue to run… I am a man who takes my word seriously. I will not give up this fight when the majority of Americans do not support either Donald Trump or Joe Biden.”
When Nikki Haley took the podium on the evening of February 24, the courage she had shown after her defeat in New Hampshire a month earlier was gone. Her expression was gloomy and for a moment, Nikki Haley seemed about to withdraw from the race for the Republican nomination.
However, in front of her supporters, Ms. Haley declared: "Our country will fall apart if we make the wrong choices. This has never been about me or my political future. We need to defeat Joe Biden in November."
Haley then pivoted: “I don’t believe Donald Trump can beat Joe Biden,” and concluded: “Today is not the end of our story.”
