Writing about the achievements of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the US newspaper Washington Post commented: “On the international stage, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong is considered a skillful implementer of Vietnam's “bamboo diplomacy” as the country navigates relations with important economic partners, while building relations with countries like India and Russia.”

“His anti-corruption efforts are aimed at rekindling public confidence in the Communist Party and its stewardship of Vietnam’s economy, one of the region’s most dynamic, with a burgeoning startup sector,” the Washington Post added.

The New York Times also highly appreciated the achievements of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

“Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong has led one of Asia’s fastest-growing economies and raised Vietnam’s international profile. During his tenure, the world’s major superpowers have actively built relationships with this Southeast Asian country,” the New York Times wrote.

The New York Times said that with the strategy of "bamboo diplomacy", General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was "very good at balancing the relationship between Vietnam and major countries".

“He is a master of hedging,” said Alexander Vuving, a professor at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies.

Regarding the anti-corruption campaign launched by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the French news agency AFP quoted experts as saying that the campaign has contributed to boosting the economy, which can be clearly seen in Vietnam's economic growth rate in recent years. Vietnam's GDP in 2023 will grow by about 5%.

“Vietnam has also become an important part of the supply chains of some of the world's most important businesses over the past decade,” AFP commented.
