(NLDO)- Myanmar authorities have announced a number of cases of Vietnamese citizens being detained for violating immigration regulations.

On the afternoon of March 20, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , answering reporters' questions about the protection of Vietnamese citizens rescued in the Myanmar-Thailand border area, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that according to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar, Myanmar authorities have reported a number of cases of Vietnamese citizens being detained for violating regulations on entry and exit into the country after raids and raids on online fraud establishments in the Myawaddy area. This area is near the border between Myanmar and Thailand.

Following the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar has requested local authorities to ensure safety and living conditions for Vietnamese citizens.

According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently working closely with domestic authorities to verify the identities of detained Vietnamese citizens, and at the same time directing Vietnamese representative agencies in Myanmar and Thailand to continue working with local authorities to promptly implement measures to protect and support citizens to return home.

Earlier, NHK on February 27 quoted the Myanmar Border Guard Force (BGF) - affiliated with the Myanmar military government - as saying that they had rescued 7,141 foreigners from scam centers. Among them were many Vietnamese, 4,860 Chinese, 526 Indians, 430 Ethiopians and others from nearly 30 countries and regions.
