The 36-year-old goalkeeper wrote: "It is with deep sadness that we announce that our son Len passed away a few weeks ago after a long illness. This announcement is difficult, but it is a necessary step for the family to regain balance and clarity in their lives."
Ulreich said he and his wife Lisa and daughter are trying to move on from day to day. At the same time, he expressed his deep gratitude to his family, friends and Bayern Munich for their understanding and silent support during this difficult time.
"We ask that the public and media respect our family's privacy and do not send any further questions or interview requests," the Ulreichs' message concluded.
