Mr. Luong Tam Quang was born on October 17, 1965, in Hiep Cuong commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province, with a bachelor's degree in criminal investigation.
Mr. Luong Tam Quang has been associated with and grown up in the police force. Before 2012, he was the secretary of the Ministry of Public Security. In 2012, he held the rank of colonel and held the position of Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security.
In 2015, Mr. Quang was promoted to the rank of Major General. In October 2017, he held the position of Chief of Office and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security.
In 2019, Mr. Luong Tam Quang was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed to the position of Deputy Minister of Public Security. He is also the Head of the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency (since May 2020).
In January 2021, at the 13th National Party Congress, Mr. Luong Tam Quang was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee for the 2021-2026 term. A year later, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.
On June 6, 2024, at the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly , the National Assembly approved the appointment of Mr. Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term at the proposal of the Government.
On August 16, 2024, at the 13th Party Central Committee Conference, the Party Central Committee elected Mr. Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, as a member of the 13th Politburo.
