The highlight of the match came in the 72nd minute, when the referee decided to award Viettel a penalty against Ha Tinh. Before that, the match was interrupted for about 5 minutes so the referee could review the situation where defender Lam Anh Quang let the ball touch his hand in the penalty area.

In the match between Thanh Hoa and SL Nghe An , the home team opened the score after being awarded a penalty. That was the situation when SL Nghe An 's goalkeeper fouled Rimario in the penalty area. The referee immediately awarded Thanh Hoa a penalty.
Rimario failed to take the penalty when SL Nghe An's goalkeeper blocked it, however, this foreign player rushed in in time to score the rebound to open the score for Thanh Hoa.
In the 18th minute, the score was 2-0 for the Thanh team. Rimario passed the ball to Luiz Antonio who ran down to finish, but goalkeeper Van Viet successfully blocked it. However, Le Thanh Binh was there in time to make a tricky header, raising the score to 2-0.
