Party members devoted to the people
"Leave any difficult task to Lien Son!" - the confident statement of comrade Pham Van Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lac Thuy commune, made us curious to visit Lien Son village - an area where more than 90% of party members are Catholics.
In the spirit of “living the gospel in the heart of the nation”, nearly 40 party members of Lien Son village Party Cell have chosen to live a “good life, good religion” to both uphold religious ethics and promote the pioneering role of party members. Therefore, this place not only stands out with clean and beautiful concrete roads but is also the first locality of the commune to reach the advanced new rural area finish line, winning the third prize of the model new rural residential area at the provincial level.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, a Catholic party member, Tan Lam village Party cell, An Nghia commune, opened a garment factory, creating stable jobs for many female workers in the locality.
In 2024, the average income per capita of the village reached more than 70 million VND, higher than the average of the commune. This achievement is the crystallization of the spirit of solidarity, exemplary and dedicated work of party members such as Mr. Vu Quoc Bao, Ms. Trinh Thi Mung and many other party members. They not only took the lead in donating land, contributing labor and money to build welfare works but also inspired and connected the spirit of "every citizen is a soldier" in building a bright - green - clean - beautiful residential area.
Mr. Vu Quoc Bao said that when starting to build a model residential area, in just 6 months, Lien Son people voluntarily contributed tens of billions of VND, from land, assets, cash to working days. "If you want people to believe, party members must match their words with their actions. If you have heart and vision, people will follow," Mr. Bao shared. The most effective way to propagate in the religious area, according to him, is to set an example, because that is the most vivid and clear proof of the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and State.
Lac Thuy commune has about 10% of the population being Catholic, of which approximately 30% are party members. The rate of Catholics participating in health insurance is over 90%. In the Catholic area, there are 2 cooperatives owned by Catholics, operating effectively, contributing to creating a stable source of livelihood. For many years, this area has not had any hot spots regarding security and order. These figures show the important role of Catholic party members in the political and social life of the locality.
It was in this land that more than 90 years ago, the first Party cell of the (former) Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee was established. Today, the revolutionary flame continues to be lit in the hearts of the parishioners by the growth and spread of the grassroots Party organization.
Three party members, one roof, one belief
In the middle of a lush green garden of fruit trees in Tan Phu village, An Nghia commune, the small house of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phu's family is always filled with laughter and conversations about the village, commune, and the construction of the homeland. In that house, there are three party members of two generations who share the same ideal, belief, and passion for dedication.
It took us several appointments to meet all three members. Mr. Phu was busy with Party work in the village, while his two children, young Party members, were working closely with the local government to promote the two-level local government and raise awareness among the people during the flood season...
Although he has retired, Mr. Phu has not stopped working for the Party. With more than 30 years of Party membership, he has held the position of Secretary of the village Party cell for many terms, and is trusted by Party members and people for his closeness to the people, responsibility, and dedication. "I always think that to be an exemplary Party member, one must be a good parishioner and a good citizen. Contribution is the way I express my faith and love for my homeland," he shared.
When the locality started to build a new rural area, Mr. Phu was one of the first people to "break the fence", renovate mixed gardens, and boldly borrow capital to invest in model gardens. More than 4,000 m2 of land is covered with fruit trees and medicinal plants, generating a steady income of over 300 million VND per year. Without much propaganda, that model became a vivid example to encourage people to change their thinking and way of doing things. From a pioneering party member, he initiated the model garden movement to spread throughout the commune. For many years, people in Tan Phu village have always had an average income per capita higher than the average of the whole commune by 4 - 6 million VND.
More preciously, his two children were raised by their father's exemplary actions, and both joined the Party. Without rigid teachings, Mr. Phu chose to " educate through practice", through Party cell meetings, meetings to mobilize people to donate land and labor, and through the morning and evening hours of diligently working on crops and livestock.
The practical work of the party members in parishes such as Lac Thuy and An Nghia has contributed to brightening the image of party members in the hearts of parishioners with the motto "Living the gospel in the heart of the nation, serving God, serving the Fatherland". That is also the core that creates social consensus, the fulcrum to build the great national unity bloc, the solid foundation for the development of the Party Committee and government today and tomorrow.
