Units and businesses support more than 3 billion VND to implement Humanitarian Month activities in 2024

(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the morning of April 17, the City Red Cross Society held a Conference to summarize the Tet Charity Movement and the Campaign “Contribute small amounts of money for great affection – Give early spring gifts to help the poor and Agent Orange victims”; and at the same time, launch the Humanitarian Month in 2024.
In recent times, the City Red Cross Association at all levels has advised local Party committees and authorities to effectively implement activities to support the poor, people in difficult circumstances, and the disadvantaged. The total humanitarian value in the first quarter reached 28.4 billion VND. Of which, implementing the Tet Charity Movement, the city has organized 3 Tet Market programs, 22 gift-giving programs with a total humanitarian value of 21 billion VND, supporting 43,000 people. 249 schools across the city participated in the Campaign "Contribute small amounts of money for great affection - Give gifts at the beginning of spring to help poor friends and victims of Agent Orange" contributing over 4 billion VND, supporting 4,420 gifts for poor students who overcome difficulties, students who are children of Agent Orange victims. In addition, the Association at all levels proactively deployed activities to prepare for Humanitarian Month 2024, mobilizing sponsors to participate in supporting modern medicine for people and fishermen in Bach Long Vi district, providing humanitarian medical examinations and giving livelihoods in Dien Bien province.
On this occasion, the City Red Cross Society awarded Certificates of Merit to 23 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing the Campaign "Contribute small amounts of money for great affection, give spring gifts to help poor friends and victims of Agent Orange" in 2024.
At the Conference, units, organizations and businesses mobilized more than 3 billion VND to support activities for the Humanitarian Month of 2024 (May) with the theme " Humanitarian Journey - Giving and Receiving Love" . During this month, the Red Cross at all levels focused on mobilizing resources to care for vulnerable people in the area with practical activities such as: building Red Cross houses, supporting livelihoods, giving gifts, granting scholarships, humanitarian medical examinations, etc.
