In Vietnamese culture, family meals are not only a place to meet physical needs but also to unite members, cultivate spiritual values, form family traditions and maintain traditions.

However, the modern lifestyle and the popularity of industrial food, processed food and fast food have led to the consequences of increasing rates of overweight, obesity and diabetes among Vietnamese people, especially children. Worryingly, many families still maintain the misconception that chubby children are healthy, thereby unintentionally creating a diet with excess nutrition for children.
