Committed to Responsible Tourism

“Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints” is the slogan that many young people who love to travel today mention. This is also the message that the Standing Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi mentioned and emphasized in his speech at the announcement ceremony of trekking tours in mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa province, which took place on December 7.

Committed to Responsible Tourism

At the ceremony, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced 12 trekking routes in Ba Thuoc, Quan Hoa and Thuong Xuan districts.

Previously, Thanh Hoa province has built and launched many unique and attractive tourist routes, stimulating tourists' exploration. In addition, it has completed tourism products with high entertainment value, top quality accommodation and resorts.

This is an effort of Thanh Hoa tourism industry to diversify tourism products to increase attraction for tourists, gradually realize the goals of number of visitors, revenue, and make Thanh Hoa tourism become a national tourism focus...

To meet sales targets, many businesses have come up with the pragmatic approach of being willing to please tourists, as long as they are willing to pay. That is the reason why there are tourist destinations being destroyed, resources being exploited to the point of exhaustion, the greenhouse effect and waste being released into the environment becoming problems.

Not accepting the short-term vision and resource destruction of tourism, the tourism industry has chosen to approach and operate according to green tourism criteria and sustainable tourism development. The way of thinking that once you have paid, you have the right to do things that cause harm, even distort the local culture in the places tourists visit, will not be accepted in Thanh Hoa.

For that reason, in recent times Thanh Hoa has created many more culturally rich and natural tourism products; tourist destinations have made efforts to transform into green, exploiting cultural materials; resources at destinations have been preserved and regenerated.

For a long time, we have talked a lot about how responsible tourism will help economic growth, ensure environmental integrity, promote values and respect local culture, create tourism products with higher quality, cultural content, ethical values and experience value. However, to make that come true, there must be a clear mindset to participate, real action, especially commitment from the government to businesses and people.

The message that the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Thi emphasized at the announcement ceremony of trekking tours in the forests in mountainous districts of Thanh Hoa province is not a trendy way of speaking, but a commitment to the seriousness in the way of doing tourism in Thanh Hoa province.
