Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. B. in Ho Chi Minh City said he had just transferred 6.2 million VND to the scammer group because he thought they were advertising staff of the resort.

Previously, Mr. B. accessed a Facebook page called "Wonderland Phan Thiet" and saw a very professional advertisement.

After learning and texting back and forth, the person claiming to be a site employee gave him his phone number to add him on Zalo to continue talking.

"Because they were so professional, and the account name was also a legal entity, I transferred the deposit to the selected room. After receiving the money, they informed me that the room was full, so I asked to find another room and was willing to refund if not," Mr. B. recounted.

"I continued to place orders and they continued to invite me to strange links. At this point, I suspected I was being scammed so I stopped the transaction. In total, I lost 6.2 million VND to this scam group," Mr. B. continued.

According to Mr. B., through research, many of his friends are also in similar situations.

Talking about the recent situation of hotel booking fraud, Vice President of Binh Thuan Province Tourism Association Nguyen Van Binh said it was "very painful".

According to Mr. Binh, most of the large local resorts are created by many fraudulent sites, advertised on social media platforms, and then lured tourists into traps.

To minimize the above situation, Mr. Binh said that tourists should visit the resort's official website and limit transactions with social networking sites.

"After carefully researching the phone number and image information, the final step before transferring money is to check whether the account number belongs to an individual or a company. If it is a personal account, absolutely do not transfer to it. No one uses personal accounts in large resorts," Mr. Binh instructed.

He also recommends that tourists should look for reputable booking websites and not get bogged down in social networking platforms.
