The Climate Change Entrepreneurship Hub (CCE Hub) was inaugurated by Vietnamese and US agencies on September 27 in Hanoi. This will be a bridge for the business community, where startups can meet to collaborate in sustainable research areas such as clean energy, sustainable agriculture , climate finance, etc.

CCE Hub, located at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology, is a dedicated innovation space designed to provide a community space for founders and startups. This is the first CCE Hub in Asia and the second in the world .

“The State Department, along with our institutional and implementing partners, is ready to use this hub in the coming years to identify and bring together sustainability-focused entrepreneurs and equip them with the tools and resources they need to bring relevant climate change solutions to market,” said Dorothy McAuliffe, Special Envoy for Global Partnerships at the U.S. Department of State.

The Hub aims to facilitate the creation of businesses that pioneer emerging sustainable solutions or innovate existing solutions; Focusing on sustainability, including: clean energy, sustainable agriculture, climate finance, resilience and resilience to climate change as well as restoration projects.

Through funding, capacity building, technical assistance, access to mentorship, and networking, the U.S. State Department and its partners can help climate change entrepreneurs gain a foothold in the marketplace, deploy effective technologies and solutions, and create greater global impact.

The opening ceremony of the CCE Hub took place not long after Vietnam and the US upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, one of which is cooperation on climate change.

Accordingly, Vietnam and the United States will coordinate in the Mekong Delta and the Red River Delta in the areas of cross-sectoral adaptation to climate change; pollution reduction and voluntary technical assistance related to the modernization of power transmission infrastructure, renewable energy integration, climate market development, energy storage solutions and improving the legal framework to enable a timely and equitable energy transition.

The two countries will also cooperate to promote low-emission and climate-resilient agriculture, biodiversity conservation, pollution reduction, and resilience of vulnerable communities, including disaster preparedness efforts. The United States supports Vietnam’s efforts to increase clean energy production.

According to the Joint Statement on September 11, US President Joe Biden welcomed Vietnam's climate commitments under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), as well as its goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions to "zero" by 2050.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed the US contribution in mobilizing public finance and private sector contributions to help Vietnam implement JETP and cooperate with the international community to ensure effective implementation of JETP while ensuring national sovereignty over energy, security and solvency.

The United States is committed to providing both financial and advanced technology support to help Vietnam implement its international climate commitments. Vietnam welcomes projects funded by international financial institutions, including the World Bank, in the areas of climate change response, energy transition, green growth, and renewable energy infrastructure.

Currently, Vietnam is implementing the goal of net zero emissions by 2050 as committed at the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26). Vietnam has also carried out many activities such as implementing the JETP agreement; issuing the VIII power master plan, including developing energy transition... In recognition of the important role of entrepreneurship in addressing climate change, the US State Department established the Climate Change Entrepreneurship Collaborative Program (CCE) at COP26 in Glasgow as a public-private partnership between the US State Department and private sector partners. CCE will contribute to solving the climate crisis, economically empowering developing countries by nurturing entrepreneurship focused on climate solutions.
