According to Reuters, Austria introduced border controls with the Czech Republic in October and is expected to last until December 6.

Since November, the country has extended border controls with Slovenia and Hungary until May 2024 due to pressure on the asylum reception system as well as threats of arms smuggling, criminal networks and human trafficking.

In August, Denmark also began tightening immigration controls, including those from Schengen countries. It also extended its land and sea border controls with Germany until May 2024.

The German government announced in September that it would strengthen land border controls with Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland until December 4 to deal with the increase in immigration.

Germany also extended tighter border controls with Austria until May 2024 due to pressure on its immigration system and security threats related to terrorism in the Middle East and the conflict in Ukraine.

Italy has reinstated police checks at its northeastern land border with Slovenia since October 21. The controls will remain in place until at least December 9, and possibly even next year.

Norway, which is part of the Schengen area but not an EU member, has reinstated border controls at ports with ferry connections to the Schengen area from November 12 to May 5, 2024.

France has been implementing border controls with Schengen members since November. These measures will last until April next year.

Slovakia announced that it will maintain border controls with Hungary until December 23 to limit the number of illegal immigrants.

Finland on November 24 temporarily closed 7/8 border crossings with Russia after more than 700 immigrants arrived in the country within two weeks.
