According to our records, in recent days, Hoi An City has had light rain, but thousands of tourists from India, Korea, Malaysia, etc. still come to visit the Japanese Covered Bridge every day.

When entering the Japanese Covered Bridge, visitors are introduced to the origin and age of the structure by the staff and tour guides at the ticket counter. Visitors are delighted to see the wooden pillars, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences and listen to the tour guide introduce the Japanese Covered Bridge before and after the restoration.

Mr. Robbie from Scotland said that he really likes to come to Vietnam because there are many beautiful landscapes, especially the Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An which is quite unique and nostalgic. “I learned that the Japanese Covered Bridge is a cultural exchange between three countries: Vietnam, Japan and China. After restoration, this architectural work is quite beautiful. I will come to Vietnam whenever I have the chance and introduce the Japanese Covered Bridge to my friends after this trip,” Mr. Robbie shared.

The new look of the Japanese Covered Bridge not only attracts international tourists, but also many young people from other provinces and cities in Vietnam come here to learn about the culture, enjoy the cuisine and take photos next to the unique architectural work in Hoi An. Ms. Dang Thi My Anh - a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City shared: "I have been to the Japanese Covered Bridge before, now I come back to visit and see that the work after restoration still retains its ancient features".

It is known that after nearly 2 years of restoration, the Japanese Covered Bridge has become more beautiful and still retains its intact structure from the tiled roof to the artifacts inside. This project will reopen to welcome tourists on August 3, 2024. This is the largest-scale restoration ever, with a total cost of 20.2 billion VND, from the provincial budget and Hoi An City.

The Japanese Covered Bridge was built in the early 17th century with unique architecture and is considered a symbol and the heritage soul of Hoi An Ancient Town.

Mr. Nguyen Phuong Dong - Deputy Director of Hoi An City Center for Culture, Information and Tourism said that every day there are about 6,000 visitors coming to visit the Japanese Covered Bridge and other architectural works in Hoi An. Coming up is Christmas and New Year, it is expected that the number of domestic and foreign tourists coming to visit the Japanese Covered Bridge and architectural works in Hoi An will also increase.
