On the sidelines of his visit and participation in the 18th Bled Strategy Forum in Slovenia from August 28-29, Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien had a courtesy call and worked with Mr. Tibor Simonka, President of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien welcomed the growing economic cooperation between the two countries, especially after the successful visit of Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon to Vietnam in May.
The President of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry affirmed that he is always ready to cooperate with Vietnam to promote and facilitate businesses of the two countries to explore areas with great potential for cooperation such as tourism, clean energy, environmental technology, pharmaceutical and medical equipment production, labor export, plastic waste treatment, etc.
With the EVFTA coming into effect, businesses of the two countries have further expanded their business and trade cooperation, initially earning many profits. Mr. Simonka said that the value of exported goods to Vietnam in 2023 is forecast to reach more than 22.6 million Euros, an increase of approximately 58% over the same period in 2022, of which the main products are retail pharmaceutical products, heterocyclic compounds used to process pharmaceuticals, raw wood materials and finished paper and cardboard products.
In addition, the Ambassador said that in the context of businesses facing the economic and trade crisis after Covid-19, strengthening connectivity and opening up cooperation opportunities between Koper port and Ho Chi Minh City port will help Vietnamese businesses in particular and businesses in the Asian region in general overcome the problem of high freight costs in the logistics sector, while shortening delivery time for businesses.
Once again, the President of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry affirmed his support and will continue to closely coordinate with the Embassy to strengthen activities to promote economic and business cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, and will continue to recommend and lobby for the Slovenian Government to soon ratify the EVIPA Agreement.
The 18th Bled Strategy Forum officially opened on August 28 in Bled, Slovenia. This is the largest political and diplomatic forum in the Western Balkans, held annually, bringing together hundreds of senior leaders of EU countries in general and some major countries in particular. The Forum's dense agenda during the two days of active work will discuss many hot issues of the region and the world, aiming to find common solutions for the whole region such as climate change, overcoming energy scarcity and shifting from fossil energy to green energy, the conflict situation in Ukraine, strengthening the EU's leadership role globally, enhancing the role of multilateralism... |
