Ninh Binh FC opens its doors to young players
V-League rookie Ninh Binh FC is working hard in the transfer market to build up its squad this season.
Remember, although Ninh Binh FC almost leveled the first division last season (won 19, drew 1), the V-League is a completely different challenge. Da Nang FC won the 2023-2024 first division with outstanding achievements, but had to struggle to stay in the V-League. The highest level of Vietnamese football requires teams to invest in a methodical, meticulous force and have a consistent strategy. Similar to last season, coach Gerard Albadalejo's team brought in many experienced players such as Dung Quang Nho, Tran Bao Toan, Chau Ngoc Quang, Nguyen Duc Chien to increase the depth of the squad and fighting spirit. Combined with existing stars such as Nguyen Hoang Duc, Dang Van Lam... Ninh Binh FC has a standard V-League squad, not like a rookie.
However, along with the stars, Ninh Binh FC also has a lot of room for young talents. The first "shot" was the contract named Tran Thanh Trung (formerly Do Nguyen Thanh Chung), a Vietnamese-American player who played for Bulgaria's U.18 and U.21 teams. To have Thanh Trung's signature, Ninh Binh FC is said to have spent no less than 10 billion VND/season in a 3-year contract, and at the same time paid Slavia Sofia Club (Thanh Trung's old team) 15 billion VND to release the contract. Thus, it is very likely that in the 3-year contract, Ninh Binh FC will spend over 50 billion VND for Thanh Trung.
Of course, Thanh Trung deserves to be sought after not only by Ninh Binh FC, but also by many other V-League teams. He plays in the central midfield position, which is "picky" about good players. At the age of 19, Thanh Trung has played 62 matches for the first team of Slavia Sofia and is considered the most promising talent in the Bulgarian league. At the same time, spending a lot of money on the 19-year-old player shows a strong message: Ninh Binh FC is ready to invest in the future.
V-League's new 'incubator'
After signing the contract with Thanh Trung, Ninh Binh FC also brought in 4 young faces: Dung Quang Vinh (born in 2007, younger brother of defender Dung Quang Nho), Nay Di Dan (2007) both from HAGL youth academy, Nguyen Le Phat (2007) from PVF, and overseas Vietnamese player Evan Abran (2005).

Notable among them are Evan Abran and Le Phat. Evan spent time training at the Lyon youth football academy (France), then went to Ninh Binh FC for a trial in July and immediately signed a contract. Evan plays left back, has good technical qualities, is agile and was immediately "spotted" for a spot on the first team.
Le Phat and U.21 PVF won the 2025 National U.21 Championship, and the 18-year-old striker won the title of "best player of the tournament". Le Phat showed his talent very early, continuously shining in the national U.15 and U.17 teams. In 2024, the player who grew up from the PVF academy was even called up to the U.23 Vietnam team by coach Kim Sang-sik when he was only 17 years old.
With promising young players, Ninh Binh FC can become a "nursery" for new young players of V-League. The financial potential, quality of the coaching staff, facilities and philosophy of using people of the ancient capital team are the foundation for young talents to have more room to show their talent, besides familiar names such as Hanoi Club, HAGL, SLNA and The Cong Viettel .
