The wedding did not have a splendid banquet hall, but the hospital room where the bride’s mother was being treated became the place to witness the sacred moment of family happiness. That moment became even more touching when it was recounted on the occasion of Vietnamese Family Day, June 28.
With the support of a team of doctors, nurses and social workers, the wedding ceremony was held briefly and solemnly, ensuring the safety of the patient. The balloons and the words "Love" at the head of the bed were a warm backdrop for the moment the bride in a red ao dai bowed her head next to her mother. The mother, despite her poor health, still opened her eyes, smiled and held her child's hand, silently sending her blessings.
The wedding took place at the bedside of the mother who was being treated.

Bride NTL (33 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) emotionally shared: "Initially, the family planned to hold the wedding at the end of the year. But when my mother's health changed rapidly, the family proactively asked for support from the hospital to capture the moment that my mother had always longed to see her daughter get married. My mother opened her eyes, looked at us, smiled gently and held my hand - as if she was sending all her love, trust and advice to her daughter on her wedding day...".
The patient's family believes that the ceremony is also a source of spiritual encouragement, giving the mother more strength to be more optimistic during the treatment process.
Ms. NTL added: "I still believe that my mother will overcome. And if I could choose again, I would not hesitate. As long as I can hold my mother's hand and take a picture together, I will do everything for that."
Dr. Bui Thi Hanh Duyen, Head of the Intensive Care Unit, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said: "We understand that for a mother, witnessing her child getting married is a sacred thing. If that moment helps the patient feel more complete, that is the most precious thing that we can preserve with the family. Medicine is not just about medicine or technology. Sometimes, understanding and sharing are the strongest spiritual medicine."
