100 years of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism through books and special publications of Nhan Dan Newspaper

The book “Articles on culture and journalism by Uncle Ho in Nhan Dan Newspaper”, special issue dated June 21, 2025, the publication “Imprints & Trends” and the exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press are outstanding works of Nhan Dan Newspaper launched on June 18, in Hanoi.

Speaking at the event, journalist Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association emphasized that this is an important event of Nhan Dan Newspaper to commemorate and pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh - the founder of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism and generations of journalists who have devoted themselves to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

The event is also an opportunity to review the glorious journey of revolutionary journalism, from Thanh Nien newspaper founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc in 1925, through the stages of fighting for independence and national unification, to the period of innovation and integration; at the same time, affirming the pioneering role of revolutionary journalism on the ideological and cultural front, orienting the development of modern journalism in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence; spreading historical, cultural and professional values to the public, especially the young generation.

The book "Uncle Ho's articles on culture and journalism in Nhan Dan Newspaper" published by the National Political Publishing House, Truth, is a collection of typical articles by President Ho Chi Minh published in Nhan Dan Newspaper, reflecting his thoughts, ethics, style and vision on culture and journalism.

“The book is a valuable document, not only helping readers understand Uncle Ho's role in shaping revolutionary journalism but also serving as a guideline for generations of journalists,” said journalist Le Quoc Minh.

Introducing the book, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam - Director, Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth said that with high requirements on both content and presentation of the book, the National Political Publishing House Truth and Nhan Dan Newspaper have closely coordinated right from the stage of surveying, collecting, selecting, and systematizing documents on the basis of closely following the outline of the book.

Of the total of more than 1,200 articles by Uncle Ho published in Nhan Dan Newspaper, 300 typical articles were selected, divided into three parts according to time frames: "Articles in the years 1951-1954"; "Articles in the years 1955-1959"; "Articles in the years 1960-1969".

Reading his articles, we deeply understand that he wrote not only with the sharp thinking of a revolutionary, but also with a passionate patriotic heart and the intelligence of a great cultural figure. With more than 170 pen names, two-thirds of which were used in his articles, each name was an incarnation, a message, expressing the height of his thoughts.

His language in his writings is not flashy or formulaic, but is imbued with intelligence, emotion and power. It is the language of revolution, of conscience, of steadfast belief in the revolutionary cause and the strength of the masses.

On this occasion, Nhan Dan Newspaper introduces the special issue of June 21, 2025 with the stature of a memorial work, a historical summary, a tribute to the past and at the same time a career manifesto for the future.

The issue is organized into 5 sections: “Origin – Mission (1925-1945)”, “Journalist – Soldier (1945-1975)”, “Accompanying Innovation (1975-2025)”, “I Tell Our Stories”, “Journalism in the Digital Age”; bringing together a strong, multi-generational team of authors, from writers associated with Nhan Dan Newspaper to prominent names in the journalism industry and young journalists in the post-digital era.

In addition, the publication “Imprints & Trends” was also launched with 2 parts: “Imprints” - reviewing 100 typical milestones of revolutionary journalism, from institutional and ideological turning points to technology and organization; “Trends” - analyzing major transformations in the age of AI and digital media, from content production, newsroom organization to public outreach, with international data and domestic practical perspectives. This publication not only pays tribute to the past but also invites generations of journalists to innovate to maintain revolutionary identity.

On this special occasion, Nhan Dan Newspaper organizes a special exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's revolutionary press at the headquarters of Nhan Dan Newspaper, the area facing Hoan Kiem Lake (Le Thai To, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi ), from June 18 to 30. The exhibition features precious documents, images, and artifacts about the 100-year journey of revolutionary press, from the first newspapers such as Thanh Nien, Viet Nam Doc Lap to publications during the resistance war and renovation.

Journalism through historical periods, from secret printing bunkers, fierce battlefields to modern newsrooms, will be vividly recreated. Typical journalistic works, documentary videos and multimedia products demonstrate the development of journalism in the digital age.

There is also an interactive area for the public, especially the young generation, to experience the journalism process and explore the role of journalism in social life...

Along with the above events, Nhan Dan Newspaper has built a specialized electronic page at the address “baochicachmang.vn”, synthesizing articles, images, videos and documents about 100 years of revolutionary journalism.
