Vietnam futsal team wins opening match at Southeast Asian championship

(Dan Tri) - Against the weak opponent Timor Leste, the Vietnamese futsal team won a resounding 4-1 victory on the afternoon of November 2. However, coach Diego Giustozzzi's team also experienced a few close calls.
The match against Timor Leste was the first match of the Vietnam futsal team at the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship in Thailand. In the 4th minute, the Vietnam futsal team opened the score, after a close-range shot by Nhan Gia Hung. The scorer for Timor Leste in this situation was Barreto, from a cross from the left wing by Miguel Fernandes. After the above-mentioned goal, the Vietnamese futsal team tried their best to attack very strongly, because we did not want to share points with the weak opponent Timor Leste. In the 25th minute, the Vietnamese futsal team found the second goal in this match. Nguyen Manh Dung quickly tapped the ball from about 4m, raising the score to 2-1 for the Vietnamese futsal team. Then, in the 36th and 40th minutes, the Vietnamese futsal team scored 2 more goals. The scorer for the team under coach Diego Giustozzi in these situations was Nguyen Thinh Phat. In which, the goal that sealed the 4-1 victory by Thinh Phat in the 40th minute was taken from the 10m penalty spot (in futsal, there are 2 penalty spots 6m and 10m. The 10m penalty spot is used to take free kicks without a wall, when the opponent commits the 6th foul onwards in each half). The next match of the Vietnamese futsal team in this year's tournament is against Malaysia at 3:30 p.m. on November 4. In addition to Malaysia and Timor, the Vietnamese futsal team is in the same group with 2 other teams, Brunei and host Thailand.
