The Vietnamese team arrived in Bangkok (Thailand) this afternoon, January 3, to prepare for the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final.

The Vietnamese team landed in Thailand this afternoon (January 3), after a flight from Noi Bai International Airport. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team are preparing to compete with host Thailand in the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final, taking place at 8:00 p.m. on January 5 at Rajamangala Stadium.

At the airport, Xuan Son and his teammates were welcomed by fans. After completing immigration procedures, the members took their luggage to return to the hotel to rest. In the afternoon of the same day, the Vietnamese team will practice to get used to the weather conditions and compete in Thailand.

The group of players who started the final match will be given priority for recovery training, while the reserve team will practice techniques and tactics to maintain their ball feeling. According to coach Kim Sang-sik, the number one priority of the Vietnamese team right now is to recover well, in order to maintain peak performance for the second leg of the final against Thailand.

The Vietnamese team won 2-1 against Thailand in the first leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final, which took place at 8 p.m. on January 2 at Viet Tri Stadium. Xuan Son's two goals in the 59th and 73rd minutes gave coach Kim Sang-sik's team an advantage before the second leg.

Despite conceding an unfortunate goal in the final minutes when the defense allowed Chalermsak Aukkee to comfortably head the ball, the first home win against Thailand after 27 years of waiting also helped the Vietnamese team move closer to the 2024 AFF Cup championship. As long as they do not lose in the rematch in Rajamangala, Mr. Kim and his team will be crowned Southeast Asian champions.

"Coach Park Hang-seo once said that the Vietnamese team is no longer afraid of Thailand. After today's victory, we have shown our strength against this opponent. I said that there is no mountain that cannot be overcome.

I understand that the Vietnamese team has defeated Thailand at home for the first time in 27 years. So I am happy with this victory. I am very happy and excited to bring new hope to Vietnamese fans to start 2025," coach Kim Sang-sik affirmed.

The Vietnamese team has only beaten Thailand once away from home in the past 15 years. Meanwhile, Thailand is playing well at Rajamangala Stadium in the 2024 AFF Cup, winning all matches against Malaysia, Cambodia and the Philippines. This is an unpredictable obstacle that coach Kim Sang-sik and his team must overcome.
