The move comes amid a surge in illegal immigration into Germany, as well as an increase in terrorist attacks and cross-border crime in many parts of Europe.

According to German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser, the increased border controls are necessary to ensure internal security. This is part of Germany's efforts to prevent organized crime and control the flow of undocumented migrants.

These measures are expected to help reduce cross-border human trafficking and drug trafficking crimes, which have caused many difficulties for the authorities in recent times.

Meanwhile, the European Commission has also allowed Schengen member states to apply temporary border controls if there are threats to security or public order.

However, the reintroduction of border controls is causing controversy within the EU, especially as the bloc aims to maintain freedom of movement within the Schengen area. Some experts fear that the measures could undermine the effectiveness of the Schengen agreement and undermine solidarity among member states.

According to reports from international migration organizations, Germany is currently one of the largest recipients of migrants in Europe, especially from conflict zones such as Syria, Afghanistan, and African countries. However, the German government has faced criticism from opposition parties and the public for its inability to effectively control the influx of immigrants into the country, leading to security, economic , and social problems.

Another important factor in the decision to re-establish border controls is the instability in neighboring countries and concerns about the risk of terrorist attacks from organizations such as al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS). Reports from Europol show an increase in extremist activities in Europe, causing many countries to review their border security policies.

In this context, France is also considering strengthening border controls with Germany, to deal with illegal migration and the threat from international terrorist groups.
