Nearly 150 pine trees were cut down, 2 people were identified as the perpetrators

On July 15, Lam Ha District Police ( Lam Dong ) detained Truong Van Thuong and Nguyen Van Tien to investigate the act of Forest Destruction.

Initially working with the police, Thuong and Tien admitted to cutting down 143 pine trees in Lot 14, 16 Khoanh 4, Sub-area 264 in Village 9, Me Linh Commune), a forest area managed by Lam Ha Protective Forest Management Board.

These two people also confessed that the purpose of cutting down trees was to get land for production.

Previously, VietNamNet reported that on July 14, Lam Ha District Police coordinated with the District Forest Protection Department and related units to examine the scene of a pine forest in Lot 14, 16 Khoanh 4, Sub-area 264, being cut down.

Through counting, the authorities determined that about 143 pine trees in the forest, in an area of about 1,400 m2, were sawed close to the root and were lying scattered and stacked. The leaves were still fresh, the tree trunks were oozing sap. The average tree trunk length was 13-20cm, the tree trunk diameter was 13-45cm. The pine forest above was planted in 1997 and was assigned to the people for management and protection.

Lam Ha district police expanded the investigation to clarify the roles of those involved.

Nearly 150 pine trees were found cut down in the forest, their trunks still oozing resin . More than 140 pine trees, decades old, with diameters of 13-45cm in the forest in Lam Ha district (Lam Dong) were cut down and lying around.
