Robusta coffee markets are also under pressure due to tight supplies. Vietnam, the world’s largest producer of robusta, reported an 11.6% month-on-month drop in exports in October and a 11.1% year-on-year drop. Heavy rains in coffee growing regions delayed harvests, while robusta output in the 2023/24 crop year is expected to fall 20% to a four-year low. This has pushed up robusta prices on the global market.

In the 2024-2025 crop year, global coffee output is estimated at 169.5 million bags, lower than consumption demand of 171 million bags. In Vietnam, supply is facing many challenges. La Nina phenomenon may appear at the end of the year, affecting the harvest. In particular, farmers are not in a hurry to sell because they have stable income from durian and pepper.
