On the first working and studying day after the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025, thousands of female civil servants and public employees in agencies and units; students from grade 9 and above in schools in Lac Son district (Hoa Binh province) responded by wearing traditional Muong ethnic costumes with colorful brocade-patterned shirts and skirts, creating a beautiful image, an impression of the spirit of preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity among the people.

Comrade Bui Van Duong, Vice Chairman of Lac Son District People's Committee, said: Traditional ethnic costumes are a cultural symbol, contributing to reflecting the customs, habits, beauty and unique identity of each ethnic group. With a total population of over 157,000 people, the district has a large number of ethnic minorities living together, of which the Muong ethnic group accounts for about 92%. On January 22, 2025, the District People's Committee sent a document to agencies, departments, branches, unions, units, schools, People's Committees of communes and towns on the implementation of wearing traditional Muong ethnic costumes on holidays, Tet, and the first day of work after the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025. Through wearing traditional Muong ethnic costumes, it is aimed at raising people's sense of responsibility in preserving and promoting good traditional values.

Previously, the image of 1,050 women wearing Muong costumes from communes and towns participating in a sports folk dance performance to welcome the new year 2025 at the district stadium left a deep impression on tourists and people. Ms. Bui Thi Thuy, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Tan Lap commune shared: As one of the teams with the most members participating in the performance, we are very excited to perform healthy and vibrant performances. At this meaningful playground, we are proud to introduce and promote the beauty of Muong ethnic costumes, contributing to improving the spiritual and cultural life and building the image of Hoa Binh women in the new era, having the health to fulfill their responsibilities well, building a happy family and a civilized society.

Recently, the project "Preserving and promoting traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in the current period" in the province has been actively implemented by local authorities. The work of propagating, mobilizing, and encouraging the wearing of traditional costumes has been focused on and promoted, while the selection of traditional costumes must be suitable to the actual conditions of agencies, units, and localities. In addition, the project "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development", under the National Target Program for socio -economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period of 2021 - 2025, has been implemented by the district with many rich and effective contents, such as: organizing training and experimental competitions in Muong ethnic group's fighting; singing contests of Thuong Rang, Bo Meng, Hat Doi Giao Duyen, Hat Lay Muong folk poetry; Muong gong performance contest. In conjunction with the content, wearing traditional Muong ethnic costumes is one of the mandatory regulations regarding the form of organization.

In January, many localities in the district implemented cultural, artistic and sports programs to welcome the New Year, typically in the communes of Quyet Thang, Tan Lap, Nhan Nghia, Vu Ban town... In particular, traditional festival activities were bustling, such as festivals: going to the fields - Yen Phu commune, Khoi communal house - An Nghia commune, Coi communal house - Vu Binh commune, Khenh communal house - Van Son commune, Cay Da temple - Vu Ban town... Along with propaganda work, launching movements in agencies, departments, branches, unions, units, schools, wearing traditional Muong ethnic costumes was supported by all classes of people, becoming a cultural beauty, contributing to arousing and honoring the cultural heritage of traditional costumes of ethnic minorities, promoting the movement of the whole people uniting to build a cultural life, building a cultural lifestyle in localities.
