Hanoi: More than 2,000 online sellers show signs of tax violations

ANTD.VN - Hanoi Tax Department has built electronic data of more than 220,000 sellers in the electronic environment, coordinated with the police force to verify and detect more than 2,000 sellers violating tax regulations.

According to the leader of Hanoi Tax Department, implementing Project 06, the unit has basically had a complete database for organizations and individuals doing e-commerce business. Accordingly, the Tax Department has built electronic data of more than 220,000 sellers in the electronic environment.

The detailed information that the tax industry has access to includes: name, address, citizen identification card, email, phone number, warehouse address, bank account, and sales value on e-commerce platforms.

Many online sellers still violate tax obligations

As a result, in the first 10 months of 2024, the total state budget revenue from e-commerce activities was nearly 35,000 billion VND, an increase of 9,000 billion VND, equivalent to 136% over the same period in 2023 (before implementation).

With the data obtained from e-commerce traders, the Tax Department has assigned each tax officer to conduct propaganda and provide maximum support to guide taxpayers to register, declare and pay taxes to the state budget in the easiest way.

In cases where there are signs of intentional tax evasion, the tax authority coordinates with the police force to verify and detect unusual signs regarding addresses, warehouses, and cash flow. Thereby, verifying cases of intentional procrastination and failure to fulfill tax obligations to the State.

Through coordination between the Tax Department and the police force, more than 2,000 taxpayers with signs of violations were discovered.

Taxpayers with signs of violations often use tricks such as: not having a business location, not publicly disclosing their identity or using fake identities, using cash or e-wallets to conceal cash flow, not declaring revenue or under-declaring revenue to reduce the amount of tax payable, said the Tax Department's leaders.
