The move makes the Changi Airport-based airline the first in the world to offer comprehensive Wi-Fi, having previously offered free Wi-Fi to passengers in its ultra-luxurious suites, as well as first and business class.
Airlines turn on wifi for all passengers on board
Earlier this year, the airline's frequent flyer members in premium economy and economy class enjoyed three hours and two hours of free in-flight Wi-Fi respectively. However, from July 1, passengers in all classes will be able to enjoy unlimited access.
Singapore Airlines senior vice president of customer experience Yeoh Phee Teik said the move was a significant milestone. "In today's increasingly hyper-connected world, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi is one of the most important requirements for passengers. Providing them with unlimited free Wi-Fi access is another milestone in our ongoing efforts to deliver exceptional end-to-end travel experiences," he told news.com.au.
Connectivity will be available on all aircraft except the seven Boeing 737-800 NGs operated by the airline, which are not allowed to have wifi enabled.
With this enhanced offer, passengers will stay connected, entertained and productive, even at 10,000m in the sky. To enjoy the service, customers must enter their KrisFlyer membership details at the time of booking via the manage booking online option or at check-in.
