The final match of the men's football SEA Games 32 took place at the Olympic Stadium, very tense and dramatic but left behind bad images when the referee had to show 7 red cards and 14 yellow cards to players and members of both teams because of the scuffles. The two teams drew 2-2 in 90 minutes before U.22 Indonesia won 5-2 in 2 extra periods.

The excessive celebration of coach Issara Sritaro (middle) and the coaching staff of U.22 Thailand after the equalizer 2-2 in the last minute of the second half is believed to be the cause of the fight.

After the match, coach Issara Sritaro said that he must first apologize to the fans because U.22 Thailand did not achieve the set goal (winning the gold medal). "We did not perform at our best due to many factors. I have to admit that the team seemed to lose control when there were not enough players (Soponwit Rakyart, Teerasak Poeiphimai, Jonathan Kemdee were red cards in extra time). The players then walked more and more due to serious physical decline. That was an important lesson for myself and the players," said the coach of U.22 Thailand.

The men's football final of SEA Games 32 left a bad image with many incidents of fighting between the two teams.

The coach added: "The turning point of the match came from the fact that we conceded the third goal too early, right at the beginning of the first extra time. Honestly, we still thought that the team could turn the situation around because we were down 2-0 in the first half (U.22 Thailand equalized 2-2 in the second half). In extra time, we lost quickly and got a red card, so it was even worse. As for the fight, it was a lack of emotional control by both team members. We tried our best to prevent it from getting worse. The referee also warned the teams for not eliminating the trouble caused by overzealous fans."

The coach of U.22 Thailand emphasized: "The final match reflects the spirit of football. But anyway, we apologize as players for the results and the bad things in the match. It is sad that such incidents happened."
