Before saying goodbye to his players, head coach Philippe Troussier gave words of encouragement to the team towards the future. The French coach emphasized that when the final match at the 32nd SEA Games ended, it would also mark the beginning of the U.22 Vietnam team, aiming towards new goals.

He said: “I believe that what we have learned from this tournament is your confidence. What you have done, I believe, is a good foundation for us to look forward to the future. Now you will return to the club to prepare for the upcoming tournaments and I will always watch over you. Keep trying and striving."

U.22 Vietnam players

Vice President of VFF Tran Anh Tu, in his capacity as leader of the U.22 Vietnam team at the 32nd SEA Games, on behalf of the VFF Executive Committee, thanked Coach Philippe Troussier and the U.22 Vietnam players for their best efforts at the 32nd SEA Games. Although they did not have much time to get used to the new playing style and had to face great pressure from the expectations of fans, the U.22 Vietnam team still showed commendable spirit and will to rise, especially the gradual progress through each match. In such a difficult context, winning the bronze medal can also be considered a success for the U.22 Vietnam team at this congress.

Mr. Tran Anh Tu also encouraged the players to continue to practice and compete for opportunities to play in professional tournaments when they return to the club, ready to regroup with new tasks, the first of which will be the Panda Cup international tournament in China next June.

This is a youth football tournament held annually since 2014. After 2 years of interruption due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year the Panda Cup was restarted with the participation of 4 U.22 teams, including host China, Bahrain, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

With the above high-quality participants, Panda Cup 2023 is considered a very useful practice for U.22 Vietnam in the preparation process for the 2024 U.23 Asian qualifiers and the 19th Asian Games which will take place in September 2023.
