On August 5, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command said it had provided emergency medical assistance to a crew member who had a work accident at sea during the night.
Previously, at around 8:45 p.m. on August 4, while performing patrol and control duties in the Southwest sea, ship CSB 6003 of Squadron 401, Coast Guard Region 4 Command received a request for emergency medical assistance from Mr. Dang Van Vung, captain of fishing boat KG 94693 TS (residing in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province), because on board was crew member Danh Van Bay (born in 1971, residing in Giong Rieng commune, An Giang province) who had a work accident while exploiting seafood at sea.
CSB 6003 ship quickly approached the fishing boat and brought the injured crew member to CSB 6003 ship for initial first aid.
Through verification by the medical team on board, the victim suffered a closed fracture of the left forearm. The medical team bandaged and splinted the forearm and provided pain medication. After receiving medical assistance, the victim regained consciousness and the pain subsided.
At 10:15 p.m. on August 4, the victim was transferred to fishing boat KG 94693 TS for further care and brought ashore for treatment.
The urgent, quick and timely actions of the officers and soldiers of CSB 6003 ship in the dark, with big waves and strong winds, despite the danger to rescue fishermen, demonstrated the spirit of devotion to the people, the high responsibility of the Vietnam Coast Guard in general, and the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 in particular, which is a solid support for fishermen to go out to sea, contributing to maintaining sovereignty, political security, order and safety in the southwestern sea of the Fatherland./.
