Specialized school students nationwide will study separate programs.

(Dan Tri) - The Ministry of Education and Training has just announced the Draft Circular on the Advanced Education Program for Specialized Subjects in Specialized Schools. This is the first time that a separate program has been standardized for specialized schools nationwide.

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí19/07/2025

The draft Circular includes the advanced education program of 15 subjects taught at specialized high schools, including: Math, literature, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, geography, history, English, Russian, French, German, Korean, Japanese and Chinese.

The principle of curriculum development is to improve upon the current subject curriculum.

The subject content contains topics that approach national and international content of interest, meeting the requirements of key training, selecting talents, and responding to national and international competitions for excellent students.

For example, with the advanced literature program, specialized school students study 21 in-depth topics in 3 years of high school, including content that general students do not have access to, such as Vietnamese literature in the renovation period (after 1986).

With the advanced history program, history students study 9 special and highly practical topics such as the East Sea issue, Vietnam - ASEAN relations, Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic policy, etc.

Each of the above in-depth topics is studied in 18-20 lessons.

The program also stipulates specific time for each subject. Of which, literature, math and foreign languages have 70 periods/school year; history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and information technology have 52 periods/school year.

Particularly, subjects in the field of natural sciences will increase practical and experimental content, promote the exploitation of information technology and orient students to specialize in exploiting and using AI technology.

In addition, the advanced education program for specialized subjects must have compulsory content and compulsory elective content accounting for about 20% of the program duration.

The Ministry of Education and Training assesses that this advanced program will have a positive impact on teachers, students and the labor market.

For gifted students, the program creates an advanced academic environment, develops logical thinking, creativity, critical thinking, self-study, research, and academic presentation skills; ensures the ability to participate in excellent student competitions at all levels, international competitions, and scientific and technical research for high school students.

The program also helps students determine their career path early and clearly through: Extensive knowledge of the industry and field related to the subject; specialized career orientation learning.

Explaining the development of this program, the Ministry of Education and Training said that the 2019 Education Law and the 2018 General Education Program issued under Circular 32 identify specialized education as an important part of the general education system. However, there is currently no separate legal document specifically regulating the content of the advanced program for specialized subjects to ensure consistency in teaching organization between localities and educational institutions.

The promulgation of the advanced education program is the foundation to ensure quality, consistency and long-term strategic orientation for key education, while ensuring equity in specialized education nationwide.
